Hi all, first time poster. I'm hopin' someone can help me.

I have the following CompTIA certs: A+, Network+, Security+, Server+. My question is how can I use these certs to obtain Microsoft certifications such as MCSA? I've searched different sites and I have just gotten more confused about how this works. To clarify, I do understand that I must take an MCP test to get an ID # and then publish my certs to Microsoft but does that mean that I don't have to take ANY additional tests to get the MCSA (which seems too easy) as long as I have the certs mentioned above? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there Greg,
Welcome to the Certmag Network! Thanks for your post. I'm sure one of our other members can offer more advice, but in the meantime, have you tried checking this out: http://certification.comptia.org/mcsa/default.aspx. It's got a lot of great background info. Best of luck!

Hi & welcome to CM :)

You can also see here for Microsoft's page regarding Comptia certs for Microsoft credentials.

You have to have passed the 70-290, the 70-291 and a client exam (either 70-620 or the 70-270) plus an elective to gain the MCSA credential. You may use either the combination of the A+ & Network+, the A+ & the Server+ or the Security+ exam as an elective only.

Last I heard, Comptia was considering developing a Comptia System Administrators cert for the holders of the A+, Network+, Server+ and Security+, however nothing, to my knowledge, has been written in stone yet.

Ken, thanks for your reply. That makes more sense now. Do you have any links to information about the possibility of a CompTIA System Admin cert? I've not heard anything about this but I'm definitely intrigued. Thanks again. =)

Sorry I thought that I kept the e-mail that Comptia sent, asking for feedback to see if it was a viable option, plus the requirements for it. But it seems that I may have deleted it. However I have sent an e-mail to Comptia for an update of this.
